Freelance Writing

I am a new freelance writer seeking writing clients and contracts. I have particular skills in:

  • Scientific writing and editing, including “Translating Science/Technical into English”. I have a Ph.D. in Physics (specializing in Soft Condensed Matter Physics) and a B.S. in Math and Physics. I can address subjects in Physics, Astronomy, Engineering, Math, Computer Science, as well as many areas of Chemistry and Biology.
  • Informational and instructive articles and presentations.
  • Written pieces closely integrating images or illustrations with the text. (See some examples of my image editing and line illustration skills.)

I do not limit myself to these areas and will certainly consider any other writing/editing work a potential client may request.

My blog is partially intended to serve as a collection of writing samples.

For clients in or near Austin, Texas, I can also directly perform some photography should you need that for the written piece. (If your needs are beyond my current ability or equipment, I may be able to recommend other local photographers to you.) You can see some of my artistic photography here.

Website Tuning

I also provide services for website design tuning. Many small entrepreneurs can readily set-up 90-95% of their website; I either fill in the last bit or serve as a “website help desk” to let them do so themselves. I can make or suggest small tweaks to give your website or blog that final, professional touch without the expense of hiring someone to create an entire site from scratch.

For example, I tuned the website for Libra Fitness while I was writing two guest blogger articles for their site. Almost all of the design work there is their own, I simply spent about an hour “dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s” to give it a completely uniform and professional appearance.

While this is no longer the focus of my efforts, I will also still consider complete web design jobs. I focus on simple, clean designs with obvious, standard user interface elements.
