Image Editing Example #1
The original image is extremely cute, but I cut off his right ear (on the left side of the picture), so I took the ear from an earlier picture, rotated and scaled it to match, filled in the background and eliminated the seams (and the “blue eye”). The final image of a complete kitten survives even detailed inspection at its full 2500×2100 size.

Image Editing Example #2
For my humor article, The Tragedy of Malnourished Cookie Monsters, I turned a normal cookie monster into a sick, emaciated cookie monster on an IV.

Image Editing Example #3
Consider also the image for the article Another Guide to Facebookâs Newest Home Page; starting with a screen shot from my own Facebook news feed, I changed every name and every user image to protect the privacy of my friends.
Combination Image Editing & Illustration Example
I made this image for use in a humorous fake news article entitled “Farmville Experiencing Drought: Virtual Dust Bowl Looming?” (not currently posted). The farmer and fields were edited from a screen shot to make the fields barren and dust choked; the cow skull, which pays homage to a classic photo from the dust bowl era, was an illustration I created. (It’s pink to represent one of Farmville’s pink cows which produce strawberry milk.)

Line Illustration Example #1
A comic strip I created (currently missing the text; the final version is done but awaiting a proper time for posting). The people were drawn in illustrator based on photographs.
